After working more than 20 years with Managed Care and Clinical Pharmacy Services, Monty Rogers, R.Ph., founded PharmAssess as a consulting company which promotes appropriate and cost-effective medication use.
Monty Rogers, R.Ph. currently oversees company operations for a third party contract review program for pharmacy groups as well as oversight of a Prescription Benefit Manager (PBM) that services partially and self-funded prescription programs for contracted clients.
Prior to his current responsibilities, Monty served as Vice President of Managed Care/Third Party Programs for a regional pharmacy buying group. During that time, he directed the third party department, servicing over 800 member retail pharmacies. He also oversaw managed care programs (PBM) offered to self-funded and HMO groups.
As Vice President of a national long term care pharmacy and infusion operation in Overland Park, Kansas, Monty gained experience in managing all aspects of infusion services and long-term care pharmacy including supervising marketing, IV and nursing staff, budgeting and daily operations of IV program for three facility sites owned by national vendor.
While director of Pharmacy Services at a regional Blue Cross Blue Shield office, Monty supervised clinical and pharmacy services related to pharmacy benefit management activities and mail order. During this time, he also served as chairman of the P&T Committee for this regional insurance carrier.
Monty's previous experience included owning and operating a consulting company focused on long-term care facilities.
Monty earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He has served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas – School of Pharmacy and has been active with the University of Missouri – School of Pharmacy (Kansas City) since 1992. He is a member of the Kansas Pharmacist Association, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, Missouri Pharmacy Association, and NCPDP.
